Additional Information for Your Dog's Play Time with Us

Welcome to Camp Canine! Camp Canine is a fun adventure for your dog and their safety is our first priority. This is a bit of information about how our facility operates and cares for your furry family member.

General

Collars and Leashes: Please remove all flea collars before bringing your dog. Please keep your dog on a leash while entering or leaving our facility. Do NOT allow your dog to approach other dogs or people. Not all dogs on the premises are dog friendly and behaviors can be influenced by being on leash and with their owners. All collars and leashes are removed once the dog is secure in our premises.

Daycare

Doggie Daycare can be a great experience for active and social dogs. They will get lots of exercise, make new friends and be very sleepy once at home. Please read the following information to determine if our environment is right for your dog. Keep in mind that when you signed your Pet Profile, you acknowledged that you are responsible for any expenses your dog incurs while at Camp Canine. We do retain the right to remove a dog from the daycare program at any time.

Schedule: Our business hours are 7-6:00pm Mon – Sat. Our office will be closed on Saturday from 12-1pm. You will not be able to pick up or drop off your dog during that timeframe. We do allow early drop off (to our existing customers only) any time after 6:30am on Monday-Friday ONLY. All dogs coming for daycare must be dropped off by noon. Dogs play all day up until 5:00pm and then they are placed in our nap room for pick up. This is to ensure we can sanitize the daycare area nightly. Any dogs not picked up will be boarded overnight and will incur an additional charge. Please visit our online portal to schedule your future appointments upon successful evaluation.

Feeding: If your dog has eaten within an hour of being dropped off he/she may have some digestive issues due to excitement while at play. We can feed a mid-day meal (if provided) for dog’s under a year at no additional charge.

Injuries: We will interrupt play if we feel it is too intense or that one of the partners is feeling uncomfortable. Our Camp Supervisors are trained to read a dog’s body language and their behavior. They ensure play remains at a calm, enjoyable and positive level. Dogs play with their mouths and paws so scrapes, scratches and an occasional puncture can happen. This happens more often in dogs with thinner, shorter coats. Despite all the precautions, training and supervision, there is no way to eliminate the possibility that a scuffle may occur between two dogs. Over reactive and/or extremely nervous dogs are not allowed back in our facility for the safety of dogs and counselors alike. Injuries are a risk of socializing dogs and you are responsible for any vet bill that may be incurred, including but not limited to any injuries your dog may cause to another dog.

Playgroups: We do not automatically separate by size or play style, but we do have the capability to break our play yards into 3+ groups at our discretion. We have both indoor and outdoor areas for the dogs to play. Our outside yards have K9 Grass (three of them are covered to allow for the dogs to still play outside if raining) which provides a safe and parasite free environment. During the warmer weather we put out pools for the dogs to play in between 10am & 1pm.

Illness: Viruses are impossible for us to prevent. If your dog is young or doesn’t interact with many dogs then your dog’s immune system will be more susceptible and less able to fight off viruses. Being exposed to viruses is also how your dog’s immune system is strengthened. Dog daycare is a bit like child daycare. All dogs are required to be vaccinated for the Bordetella Vaccine. However, this vaccine DOES NOT prevent the dogs from catching this illness. A healthy looking dog may come to Camp that has yet to show any symptoms, and by the time the symptoms appear, he/she has spread the illness to many other dogs that they played with or shared water with. We disinfect the play area on a daily basis and also have an air purification system to help combat these types of illnesses. We do not take in dogs that show signs of communicable illness; however, outbreaks can occur. This is a risk of socializing your dog in any environment. It is imperative that you inform us if your dog develops any type of illness to allow us to track and communicate appropriately. (Remember that we do not assume responsibility for veterinary expenses for dogs that pick up an illness while in our care.) These illnesses may include but are not limited to Canine Cough, Giardia, Canine Papilloma (Puppy Warts), and Conjunctivitis.

Camp Counselors
Our Certified Counselors are trained on how to interact and supervise dogs in a social group setting as well as in Pet First Aid / CPR.

Additional Daycare Services: If you feel your dog needs extra physical or mental stimulation, we offer treadmill sessions and monthly enrichment activities for an additional fee. We also post daily Facebook pictures on Camp Canine CT. (We cannot guarantee you will see your dog every time they are here.)

Grooming Services: The items listed below can be scheduled by making an appointment with the office. They can also be combined with a day of daycare.
