Homemade Treats!

Jada's Favorite Cookies

2 cups Oat Bran
2 cups Oat Flour
1 cup canned Pumpkin (may substitute with sweet potato or butternut squash)
1 Tablespoon of Molasses
¼ cup Olive Oil

Mix all ingredients together. Form into 2 balls and wrap in cellophane or wax paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Roll out cookies and cut with your favorite cookie cutter. Place on cookie sheets and bake in 350° oven for 15-20 minutes or until crispy or until crispy and golden. When cooled dip ½ of cookie in melted carob for an extra special treat.

Homemade Frosty Paws

Here's a healthy and easy treat to make for you dog/s especially during the "Dog Day Afternoons".

32 oz Vanilla (or plain) Yogurt (regular. low- fat or fat-free)
1 mashed Banana
2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
2 Tablespoons Honey

Blend together and freeze in ice cube trays or 3 ounce bowls. I prefer to use ice cube trays so I can pop them out and store them in freezer bags. You can serve them right out of the freezer or thaw them slightly in the microwave for a few seconds before serving.

Serves: 24 ice cube size treats

Half-Moons Treats

These treats are great for training because you can snap them into bite size pieces.

Open a can of premium dog food at both ends and slide the food out. (I recommend using Wellness, but any premium canned food will do). Slice ¼" to ½" thick. Cut each circle in half. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 325° until the moisture is gone and the treats are crisp, about 20-30 minutes. If they are not dry, continue baking (check every 5 minutes). Another option is to shut off the oven, keep the door closed and wait until the oven has cooled completely. Store in an air-tight container or Ziploc bag.

Birthday Cake

13 oz can Wellness dog food
1 cup Oat Flour
1 ½ teaspoon Baking powder
½ pound of Beef Liver
2 eggs, separated
12 oz low-fat Cream Cheese softened
1 carrot shredded

Preheat oven to 350° and butter a 9 inch round cake pan. Simmer the beef in a little water until cooked. Cool and grind in a blender to a smooth, soft paste. Mix thoroughly with canned dog food. Beat the egg whites to soft peaks and fold into the liver mixture. Blend in flour and baking powder being careful not to over mix. You want to retain the lightness of the egg whites. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool and frost with the soft cream cheese. Decorate with the shredded carrot, chopped nuts, or dog biscuits. Serve and enjoy!

Tip: I have also used this recipe for mini pup-cakes bake in mini muffin pans for
20-25 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Mini muffin liners come in handy for easy clean-up.
